MeadWestvaco acquires Keltec Dispensing Systems

MeadWestco provides packaging for many of the leading names in the personal care and cosmetics industries, as well as for the food and beverage markets, the media and entertainment business, and the home and garden sectors.

Keltec, a Netherlands based company, specialize in airless packaging systems ideal for the personal care market.

The company will be integrated into MeadWestvaco Calmar, the corporation's specialist pump and spray packaging business.

MeadWestvaco operates in over 30 countries and it will provide the capacity and distribution capabilities to deliver Keltec's products to the global marketplace.

In addition, the company plans to expand production in the facilities in Drunen, the Netherlands, whilst incorporating Keltec's technology into its production facilities in North America and Asia, accelerating the development of additional products within the Keltec line.

"With this acquisition, we are combining Calmar's global resources and market prowess with Keltec's unique product lines to benefit new and existing customers, and to realize long-term profitable growth opportunities", explained John A. Luke, MeadWestvaco's chairman and chief executive officer.

Keltec produce a range of airless dispensing systems including the Easy Foamers, and the Easy Dispensers.

The Easy Foamers are mechanical (no chemical propellants are used), and are specially designed so that no metal parts come into contact with the product.

In addition, the systems are entirely waterproof to avoid contamination from the household water supply.

The company's Easy Dispensers are based on a patented rolling bellows technology where a single plastic part performs many function, leading to a cost effective, reliable dispenser with fewer parts.
