At In-Cosmetics Barcelona, Corum showcased new studies of the Vitamin C active Et-VC™ – the 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid, on its role in photoprotection during the innovation seminar.
Et-VC™is a multi-functional Vitamin C derivative that provides superb whitening effects. It also serves as a potent anti-aging active that boosts collagen synthesis, reverses ROS production, inhibits inflammatory cytokines, as well as, protects DNA from UV damage. In the latest study, Et-VC™ was proven to show exceptional synergistic effect when applied with sunscreen to help prevent the UV insult which causes skin pigmentation and erythema. Sunscreen product with 3% Et-VC™ can significantly enhance the UV photoprotection. The results can be observed from both increased skin lightness (L* value: +55.68%) and reduced skin redness (a* value: -36.38%).
