As the Nutraingredients Awards enters its 11th consecutive year, 2025 brings three new categories – including one dedicated to beauty-from-within, in collaboration with CosmeticsDesign-Europe.
As more consumers focus on top-to-toe wellness, many are taking a holistic approach and choosing an inside-out approach to improving their skin, hair, nails.
The sleepmaxxing hack has been trending on TikTok; collagen supplements have seen a boost in popularity among young people and omega-3 supplements are also touted for a welcome revival for their beauty benefits.
There’s also been plenty of innovation in formats including new vitamin patches, which are gaining a cult following.
Euromonitor International has highlighted this shift in consumers' mindsets as one of its trends for 2025
The data analytics firm’s survey of more than 40,000 consumers showed that more people are making intentional changes in their wellness routines to benefit their future selves, as they aim to live longer and stay healthy for longer too.
The company also forecast that global sales of vitamins and supplements to reach $139.9bn by the end of 2025 (up from $127.2bn in 2024), as consumers turn to the nutraingredients to address targeted concerns.
New awards categories for the beauty industry
For the 2025 Nutraingredients Awards, there are three new categories that are especially relevant for the cosmetics industry.
• Product of the Year: Beauty from Within in association with CosmeticsDesign-Europe
• Marketing Initiative of the Year
• Ingredient of the Year: Botanical
The new beauty-focused Product of the Year category will celebrate innovation in ‘inside-out’ beauty from any category – be that skin care, hair care, nails, anti-ageing, or general all-rounders.
For this, the judges will assess how the product meets specific market needs and consumer demand, as well as looking for solid evidence of scientific efficacy.
There are also three other categories that beauty businesses can enter too. These are:
• Ingredient of the year – Beauty from Within, which is also in association with CosmeticsDesign-Europe
• Innovation in Women’s Health Award
• Plus, the Editor’s Award for sustainability initiative of the year
The beauty-specific Ingredient of the Year category looks for that ‘x-factor’ ingredient based around tailored nutritional solutions to maintain and enhance skin, nails and hair.
The ingredient must be in the formulation of a finished product that’s commercially available in Europe and for this category, the judges will look at how the ingredient meets specific needs and ensure it’s based on trusted scientific testing.
How to enter the Awards
According to Nikki Hancocks, Editor of NutraIngredients-Europe, winning a prestigious NutraIngredients Award will set your company apart from the competition, attracting new clients and customers.
“Many companies inform us that being able to promote their finalist or winner status in their B2B and D2C communications, makes a massive difference when it comes to building the confidence of clients, partners, investors and consumers,” she said.
Entries will close on Monday 3 February 2025 and the winners will be announced at a party on 21 May 2025 in Barcelona.
