The coalition is a group of certified B Corp beauty companies have come together to make the beauty industry more sustainable and ethical.
It recognises the need to strengthen its influence across the APAC region and has made it one of its major priorities.
“The APAC region presents a unique set of sustainability challenges, primarily due to its vast cultural diversity, varying regulatory frameworks, and relatively low awareness of B Corp certification and the B Corp Beauty Coalition,” said Letícia Stables, global coordinator of the B Corp Beauty Coalition
Speaking to CosmeticsDesign-Asia, Stables underscored the coalition’s overarching aim to foster connections in the region to “collectively address shared sustainability issues”.
“While numerous innovative solutions are emerging in the region, there is often a lack of unified effort to tackle systemic challenges such as waste reduction, responsible sourcing, and ethical labour practices.”
In response, the B Corp Beauty Coalition will be working to inspire collaborative action among members in the APAC region next year.
“In 2025, our plan includes establishing a local Events & Meet Ups Working Group, dedicated to creating platforms for meaningful dialogue, sharing best practices, and developing actionable solutions that can drive positive change for individual companies and the industry collectively,” Stables said.
“Through our global community, we will provide a platform for APAC-based members to exchange ideas and solutions, adapting them to their specific regional context, as many of us globally face so many of the same key issues – packaging, responsible sourcing, reporting, regulatory emergence, and so on.”
B Corp Beauty 2025: 3 key focus areas
Innovating for Better Practices: Leveraging collective expertise to solve critical sustainability and equitability challenges.
Collaboration and Shared Learning: Providing a platform for members to share ideas and amplify their impact
Advocacy and Education: Using collective voice to influence policy and advance consumer education on sustainability.
APAC an ‘important’ region
The coalition acknowledges the critical importance of the APAC region in driving global impact and advancing its mission.
“The rapid growth of the APAC beauty market presents a significant opportunity for our members in the region to accelerate the adoption of sustainable practices across the industry. By deepening our engagement with local members, we aim to support beauty companies in embracing socially and environmentally responsible practices,” said Stables.
She told us that the coalition recognised that the APAC region was fraught with distinctive challenges and opportunities.
“Sustainability concerns vary significantly across countries in the region, driven by differences in economic development, regulatory landscapes, and consumer preferences. To better address these needs, we plan to regionalise our initiatives, fostering events and meetups that are tailored to local priorities.”
She added: “By establishing a dedicated APAC Events & Meet Ups Working Group, we aim to support our members in championing sustainability in ways that align with both local aspirations and global best practices.”
The beauty of B Corp
With more focus on APAC, the coalition aims to raise awareness of the B Corp certification.
It plans to do so through several initiatives, such as amplifying the messages of B Corp Beauty brands, translating materials into relevant languages, and engaging companies with natural and sustainable practices to raise awareness of B Corp initiatives.
“These efforts will help raise awareness of B Corp in the region, encouraging more companies to embrace the certification as a mark of excellence in sustainability,” said Stables.
“The coalition’s efforts to foster meaningful connections within APAC will help catalyse broader industry-wide shifts towards sustainability. Through collaboration, we believe this momentum can inspire change that resonates across global markets, driving transformation throughout the beauty sector worldwide. We aim to lead our industry by example and to proudly share our efforts to be a force for good for both people, planet and prosperity along the way.”
