Medical research on the coronavirus has been published across the globe – much of it relating to vaccine efforts and health credentials of patients – but a recent study from Spanish researchers looking at skin manifestations of COVID-19, an area they said was previously undefined, identified five key skin patterns associated with the disease.

Meanwhile, international beauty major L’Oréal also issued guidance to salons in the UK and Ireland about how to safely run business post-COVID, once businesses were able to restart.

Hospital university researchers in Spain identified skin manifestation patterns in patients with confirmed and suspected coronavirus (COVID-19), some of which appeared ahead of other symptoms.

L’Oréal UK and Ireland developed a support guide for UK barbers, hair and beauty salons outlining post-confinement hygiene and operating guidelines for when businesses can reopen.

Mintel’s associate director for global beauty and personal care said whilst industry had long advocated wellbeing and positivity, this messaging was now more relevant than ever with the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
