International beauty major L'Oréal and international personal care major Unilever both filed patents for their latest formula innovations.

L'Oréal filed a collection of three on sunscreen formulations and Unilever on a skin care formula using prebiotics.

News that French perfume house Hermès was foraying into colour cosmetics also captured attention, with its launch of a lipstick line.

COVID-19 beauty industry response

Unsurprisingly, interest also peaked around news that the British Beauty Council was lobbying government around financial support for SMEs, along with L'Oréal's European 'solidarity plan'.
