On this exclusive podcast, Amanda Lim, editor of CosmeticsDesign-Asia; Deanna Utroske, editor of CosmeticsDesign; and Kacey Culliney, editor of CosmeticsDesign-Europe talk through some important considerations during this uncertain time.
The editors highlight industry-wide movements from philanthropic efforts to plugging hand sanitiser shortages.
“We’ve seen lots of beauty businesses in the region working really hard to plug shortages in hand sanitisers and soaps, particularly in France and Spain. And what I’ve seen is these businesses have immediately, sort of, prioritised the restructuring and reorganisation of their networks to safeguard their employees,” said Culliney.
Utroske added that it was important to discuss how companies had responded and how prepared they were for a crisis like the coronavirus outbreak. “One of the absolute keys is a strong communication strategy,” she said. But in the current situation, she said it was also vital to have an “authentic voice” as a company or brand.
Lastly, the editors discuss how this outbreak will change the entire personal care landscape, from consumer behaviour to emerging trends.
Lim noted that it was clear consumers would have an increased interest in labelling, safety and transparency. “This coronavirus will definitely have an impact on the entire world and definitely the beauty industry.”
