Toronto, Canada-based PharmaCielo was founded in 2014, is publicly traded, and specializes in the cultivation and processing for medical-grade cannabis oil extracts.
A company subsidiary, PharmaCielo Colombia Holdings S.A.S., grows and processes cannabis in Rionegro, Colombia. This is, according to the company site, because of that country’s “outstanding climatic and economic conditions, including its history in the cut-flower industry, as well as its clear legal framework for cannabis licensing.”
Reaching European beauty makers with CBD from Colombia
PharmaCielo is actively building out a distribution network to supply CBD isolate and broad-spectrum CBD oil (and other cannabis oil extracts) to manufacturers in the medical sector, in animal products, in consumer products as well as to local importers and government purchasing bodies—and of course, to cosmetics manufacturers.
The newly announced 3-year deal with Montreal-based CBD Export Global is for distribution to the EU, Switzerland, and Lichtenstein.
“The agreement with CBD Export Global is part of PharmaCielo's second-phase growth strategy complementing the first phase in which we established one of the largest cultivation and extraction operations in Colombia and initiated global sales,” David Attard, CEO of PharmaCielo, tells the press.
“Now in the second phase,” says Attard, the company is “expanding the distribution network as production volumes increase on a daily basis to take our high-quality medicinal CBD extracts to global markets.”
PharmaCielo will ship at lease 2,000kg of CBD to Europe in 2020
The distribution agreement has shipment beginning this year and sets a “minimum target volume of 2,000 kg,” according to the press release announcing the deal.
“In 2019 we saw global demand for quality medicinal extracts increasing on an ongoing basis. In 2020 we are further expanding our distribution and sales channels. The collaboration with CBD Export Global will play a key role in our continued growth,” Attard says in the release.
Alex Grenier, CEO of the supply chain management and distribution company, sees great potential in the new partnership: “As a fellow Canadian company helping to build a global industry,” he says, “we are delighted to build a relationship with PharmaCielo as we access the global industry for the very best of both product supply and, with recognition of their position as the first and only global GAP certified cannabis supply chain from Colombia to Europe, the ability to meet the needs of a demanding global medicinal marketplace.”
