Dr Isabel Ramos co-founded AYUNA Less is beauty with Begoña Sanjuán. The beauty industry veterans “found that there was a need in the space, for consumers to have products with high quality and efficiency and with a high sensorial profile,” Ramos tells Cosmetics Design, explaining the inspiration for the eco-lux brand. And she describes AYUNA further saying, it’s a clean beauty brand that is “respectful for the skin and also for the environment.”
And while AYUNA is an indie brand squarely situated in the eco-lux market, it fits quite neatly into the emerging microbiome skin care market as well. At the AIRS International Conference on Genomics and Microbiomics (which took place May 31 and June 1 in Barcelona, Spain), Ramos gave a talk titled, Microbiome and Clean Skin Beauty: A Case Study.
Her presentation covered postbiotic active ingredients that multitask as preservative agents as well as prebiotic actives that change the way microorganisms living on human skin communicate. Watch the full video interview (at the top of the page) with Dr Isabel Ramos to learn more.
