Croda expands French site
The €4.65M investment program will expand its Chanac production site located in the Lozère department (Occitanie Region), and comes as a sign that the botanicals segment within beauty, personal care and fragrance remains an area of growth within the industry.
Crodarom, French subsidiary of the Croda Group, produces a broad range of innovative botanical extracts dedicated to cosmetics care and industrial applications.
Founded in 1998 following the merger of two laboratories - Phybiotex (Chanac – France) and Novarom (Germany) - Crodarom developed its know-how from its eco-extraction technological expertise and its deep botanical knowledge gained through decades of research and application works.
Local subsidies for the project
The company won regional subsidies for its expansion project, which it says is a sign of local belief in its potential for international growth.
Thierry Morin, Director of the Crodarom site, confirms: "Our local and regional institutions are fully aware of Crodarom innovative potential. We are very grateful for this subsidy as it will significantly contribute to our activities, to employment and to the Lozère economic development."
The Occitanie Region, the Lozère Departmental Council, the Aubrac-Lot-Causse and Chanac Area municipalities community have together invested in the project through a €580,000.00 subsidy.
“Crodarom stands today as a key player of the economic and innovation development for the Occitanie Region,” the company suggests.
In its local efforts, Crodarom grants 94% of the total work contracts to regional businesses situated less than 100km from the site (47% of artisans located in the Lozère department).
Project details
The project, scheduled to last 2 years, will concern the extension of the storage warehouse and laboratories, as well as the construction of a new administrative building. A second €2M investment phase, scheduled as of 2021, will be initiated to expand and redesign the production area.
The current Crodarom facilities cover almost 4,000m² with a headcount of about 70 employees.
Owing to the expansion project, the headcount will increase to 100 employees and the facilities will include an additional surface area of 2,200m².
