The new production facility was officially opened on March 29th, at the Cesky Krumlov site, in Czech Republic. It is the company’s second production facility, but this one has a specific focus on sustainable design.
The facility was opened by Ivan Straska, governor of southern Bohemia, together with the mayor of the region and top executives from the Schwan Cosmetics group.
A €29 million investment
The facility is the result of a €29 million investment, which has resulted in a high-end infrastructure and a high quality benchmark building that encompasses 3,600 square metres of production space and additional office space.
“We want to inspire our customers with innovation just as much as our operative excellence,” said Dr. Jörg Karas, Managing Director of Schwan Cosmetics.
“ Our expanded competence center brings us a step further towards this goal. At this location, we are making sustainable innovation palpable.”
Technology combined with sustainability
According to Schwan executives, the facility has been designed to incorporate technology, high hygiene standards and an optimal working environment for the employees.
Likewise, the new generation of pencils are being manufactured using wood at the facility, which means that they are non-plastic and made from sustainable material.
To cap it all, the facility itself has also been built to benefit from renewable energy, with a ground channel serving to partially replace the air conditioning and residual heat form the compressor being used in a heat recovery unit to general heating and hot water.
Additionally, the building also has a green roof that provides thermal insulation, providing a greener and more natural appearance to the building, while also providing another means of lowering energy use.
