We scoured this year's show for some of the most exciting ingredients and formats currently available on the beauty market, and the latest industry news. Here's what we discovered on the Cosmetagora 2019 showfloor.
At this year’s Formulation Awards, BASF presented its “Blue Lagoon Sensation” formula. It's a three-in-one formulation that can be used as exfoliator, make-up remover and caring product, containing BASF’s new readily biodegradable exfoliating ingredient Cegesoft Peel.
Cegesoft Peel is spherically shaped wax beads that provide a gentle and mild exfoliation, offering a biodegradable and environmentally-friendly alternative to sharp-edged abrasives and non-degradable beads (often referred to as microplastic beads).
And speaking of BASF, the company was showcasing its new concept “Innovative Skincare Journey”. Through it, BASF believes it offers its customers a new approach to skin care formulations, using an innovative process that allows to create efficient high-quality products in a faster, easier and more transparent way.
The “Innovative Skincare Journey” concept features one basic multi-purpose formulation which is adjusted in a second production phase. Various formulas can be created by carefully selecting additional ingredients (e.g. active ingredients) – depending on the textures, senses and functions that want to be achieved.
By focusing on only few ingredients, manufacturers of personal care products can easily ensure transparency to consumers by highlighting controlled ingredients and technical processes.
This purifying stick mask is a non-drying mineral face mask that offers a deep detox, according to ImerCare. It has a solid texture which the company calls 'ultra innovative', and offers a precise, hygienic and uniform application.
Textures were a central focus at this year's Cosmetagora, as consumers continue to demand quality and novel sensorial experiences from their personal care products.
We see this again in Stearinerie Dubois's Massage Ball, which the company describes as a playful and innovative item that is easy to use.
Following the completion in September last year of Givaudan's acquistion of Naturex, this year's Cosmetagora saw Naturex showcasing under the Givaudan banner for the first time.
"Givaudan is the global leader in the space of natural flavours, Naturex further complements our capabilities with its strong portfolio of plant extracts and natural ingredients across the food and beverage, nutrition and health and personal care sectors," Gilles Andrier, CEO of Givaudan, says.
The company explains that it will be showcasing "new launches and other many surprises" at the upcoming in-cosmetics Global show.
Inspired by French patisseries, these 'macaron blushers' offer a fine, creamy texture and allow users to create a colour at the intensity of their choice, says Roelmi HPC. Cheerful and colourful, they were certainly eye-catching on the showfloor.
