DuPont Tate & Lyle adds bio-based ingredient distribution capabilities
Earlier in the year the company announced plans to increase its production capacity. In a video interview, filmed at in-cosmetics global in April, then global marketing manager David Shaw affirmed that the DuPont Tate & Lyle “35 million pound capacity expansion [is] slated to come online in the middle of 2019.”
Now, in advance of that capacity increase, the company has opened a new warehouse and distribution facility at the Loudon, Tennessee, production site. DuPont Tate & Lyle frames both expansions as an assurance to beauty manufacturers and the wider market that the company is committed to on-going production and supply of bio-tech made ingredients like Zemea propanediol.
Larger business
“Investing in the warehouse and distribution center enables our company to move forward with the industry and allows us to ensure our customers have access to high-quality products in a timely fashion,” says Todd Sutton, president of DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products, in comments to the press.
He goes on to note that company has a valuable economic relationship with the region: “We received no special incentives on these expansions, but we have worked closely with the state and local economic development agencies in the past. Their support in helping our Loudon operation remain cost competitive on a global scale has been extremely important.”
Smaller orders
With the new warehouse and distribution facility DuPont Tate & Lyle can handle ingredient orders of all sizes on site, rather than rely on outsourcing. Until now, the company was only able to fulfil bulk orders on site.
“The new warehouse and distribution center allows for packaged goods such as pails, drums and totes to be directly filled, stored and shipped from the manufacturing facility to any destination around the world and simplifies the global supply chain,” according to the release.
