With internet retail giant Amazon having announced earlier this year that it is opening a store dedicated entirely to independent beauty brands, the potential for indie online has never been clearer.
Indie beauty has emerged as something of a melting pot of key trends of authenticity, reactivity and relevance to niche consumer groups. Some brands are even leading the way in the naturals space.
INNOCOS
This knowledge-sharing and networking event held a European edition earlier this summer, in Florence, Italy. It is set to hold another edition in Seoul, Korea and another in California, USA, in the coming period.
Its lineups include major names alongside smaller players, including Coty, Avon, Estée Lauder, L’Oréal, Unilever, Automat, Beiersdorf, H&M, Foreo, Euromonitor, Finding Ferdinand, Modiface, Aethic, Skin Design London and Cargill Beauty.
Focus is afforded to indie beauty, including presentations on how independent players can seek out investment.
Next year’s European edition will take place in Dubrovnik, Croatia, June 20-21, 2019.
Indie Beauty Expo (IBE)
This major show dedicated solely to indie beauty was launched in the US a few years ago, and has grown impressively, alongside the wider indie beauty market.
As a result of its rising popularity, the company has announced it is launching editions of the Indie Beauty Expo in Europe (London and Berlin).
As a result, the show has grown to include a portfolio of events that stretches to five cities: London, New York City, Los Angeles, Dallas and the inaugural Berlin event, scheduled for March 22nd to 23rd, 2019.
Beauty & Money
Taking place earlier this year in London, the Beauty & Money event, Europe’s first, shone a light on investment and opportunity for beauty players across Europe, with a focus on indie beauty.
Indeed, the show picked out 12 independent beauty players to showcase in its Beauty Spotlight, including BYBI Beauty, ORBO, Rouge Bunny Rouge and Cocunat.
