ModiFace’s artificial intelligence (AI) technology, which is used for face and hair tracking, was selected by Apple as one of the App Store Best for 2017.
“This selection highlights ModiFace's unique technology which utilizes advanced deep neural networks, while solving a practical problem in makeup and hair color simulation in live video,” the company explains.
ModiFace works with various beauty brands, including MAC, Sephora, L'Oréal, Coty, Smashbox, Estée Lauder, Clinique and Bobbi Brown.
"We are delighted to see the impact and results from our technology. Not only is it fun and engaging, but it also amplifies sales and conversions.
"The impact on sales, more than any other factor, is the primary reason why almost every beauty brand is embracing ModiFace's AR technology," said Parham Aarabi, CEO and Founder of ModiFace.
ModiFace's patented technology, which the company explains is based on over a decade of research at Stanford University, powers over 200 custom augmented reality apps for beauty brands.
Augmented reality: how it’s used
AR capabilities from technology companies like Perfect365, YouCam, ModiFace and Meitu are being quickly incorporated by cosmetic brands across the board to allow consumers to virtually try on products in the comfort of their own home using nothing more than their mobile phone.
They provide intelligent augmented reality technology for the beauty industry, providing customizable AR try-on capability for web/ecommerce, mobile, in-store, and messaging.
The appeal of these types of technologies is built around offering consumers more engagement and experience, while providing brands with insights and data which can be applied in other parts of the business.
