Cosmax strives to “become a pioneer of 'Korean Beauty' including the development of convergence products between different industries in the future”, it announced in a recent press release.
The cosmetics leader, which specialises in the research, development, manufacturing and selling of cosmetics was presented with the first intellectual property management award in the cosmetics original design manufacturer (ODM) industry.
Intellectual win
Lee Kyung-soo, President, Cosmax, revealed that it had won the ‘Intellectual Property Management Enterprise of the Year’ award at the '2017 Korea International Intellectual Property Association (KINPA) International Conference'. The event was held at JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square in Seoul and was hosted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office and Korea Intellectual Property Association.
The 'Intellectual Property Management Enterprise Award' is a prize presented to companies in recognition of their commitment to activities that advance their national intellectual property and national industry. These are celebrated for boosting their intellectual property capabilities, along with sharing intellectual property management practices and knowledge.
Topping over 100 patents
Building its brand to become “a global No. 1 cosmetics ODM company”, Cosmax has now developed and manufactured cosmetics for over 600 cosmetics brands, it stated in a recent press release. The Cosmax Research & Innovation Centre has set up a lab (LAB) organisation to combine skin care and make up for the first time in the industry.
It is now developing its patent registration capabilities alongside the registration of numerous formulations, materials and technologies.
The company’s researchers, which hail from China, India, Korea and the US, have collaborated to generate over 100 patent applications this year. Using its proprietary technology, these patents are based on liquid emulsion formulations, sun powder and foam cleansing formulations, along with its gel eyeliner and CC cream formulations as an industry-first.
Newest advancements
Cosmax is currently working on extensive research and development to advance heterogeneous and convergent technologies, and secure new materials and technologies.
It is using piezoelectric technology, which is primarily used in electronic devices, to strengthen patents relating to cosmetics or evolving functional cosmetics using prescription-derived materials.
"We are doing our best to acquire intellectual property rights in each country based on a large number of researchers. We will continue to increase the cost of research and provide Cosmax's total beauty solution," Lee Kyung-su, Chairman of Cosmax Group, added.
