Ecovia announces finalists for annual Sustainability Awards

Ecovia Intelligence, which rebranded from its Organic Monitor name earlier this year, has announced the finalists for its annual Sustainability Awards.

The company says that this year the awards have been amongst the most popular ever, with more than 100 entries across five different categories.

The finalists for the awards were chosen by a panel of judges that included experts from all areas of the industry as well as media representation that included myself, Simon Pitman, senior editor for the Cosmetics Design Group.

Here are the award finalists for each of the five categories, in alphabetical order:

Sustainability Pioneer Finalists:

  • Trilogy Natural Products

The sustainability pioneer award is given to an organisation in the beauty industry that is a leader / pioneer in some aspect of sustainability.

 Sustainability Leadership Finalists:

  • Aveda
  • Hair O’Right
  • i+m Naturkosmetik
  • Laboratories Expanscience

This award is given to an organisation that is leading in various aspects of sustainability. The operator is displaying overall leadership in sustainability and not mastering a few areas.

Sustainable Packaging Finalists:

  • Biolage RAW (L’Oreal)
  • Hair O’Right
  • O-PAC EcoPac
  • Sulapac.

This award is given to a packaging format that has low environmental footprint in terms of design and / or materials.

Sustainable Ingredient Finalists:

  • Biolie with Greentense
  • H&H Group Co. with Sadorfons
  • Inolex with SustOleo MCT
  • Merck with RonaCare RenouMer
  • Neal’s Yard Remedies with Frankincense Boswellia Sacra Extract

This award is given to a cosmetic ingredient that makes a significant difference in terms of environmental and / or social footprint.

Green Formulations Finalists:

  • Alteya Organics Rose Jasminium Collection
  • Luxe Botanics
  • Organic Island
  • Planted in Beauty by Well Within
  • Trilogy Rosehip Products

This award is given to a cosmetic range with a high level of green (natural / organic) ingredients in product formulations.

Both the winners and runners up with be announced at The Sustainable Awards reception, to be held in Paris on November 6th at Paris Marriott Champs Elysées hotel, hosted alongside the European edition of the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit.
