The company recently announced that it has appointed Jean-Christophe Van Geem for the development of the South American market, with the South American sales rep set to pursue the commercial development of the company within the market.
“His mission is to support the main cosmetics players of the South-American market in their choice of packaging and application solutions. He will also facilitate the finishing operations with local partners, when needed,” says Cosmogen.
Latin America: challenging region with opportunities
Research firms and international beauty players alike have been cautious when it comes to Latin America of late, following a strong period of market growth a few years ago that then was hit by turbulent economic conditions across the region.
Most recently, however, some have been voicing optimism for the region, with Mintel suggesting some countries' financial woes may actually have offered a boost to beauty sales.
“Brazil’s current economic crisis might have had a positive impact on Brazilian consumers’ beauty habits,” the firm says of the Latin American country.
“They have reported to be using less water when getting ready to go out and not buying a new beauty product until their current one runs out completely. These new habits coud mean a more sustainable type of consumption and the search for more environmentally friendly products and brands."
