IMCD opens first personal care applications lab in the US

The Netherlands – based specialty chemical supplier announced this week the opening of its newest facility, a laboratory equipped to deliver formulations, testing, and more to clients in the US. And this lab is just the beginning of what IMCD has planned for the region.

IMCD opened what is the company’s 30th facility in its “network of global laboratories and technical centres of excellence,” as the specialty chemical company told Cosmetics Design by email.

Florida first

The new IMCD lab is up and running in Miami, Florida. At a ceremony celebrating the new facility, Marcus Jordan, president of IMCD US Holdings remarked, “IMCD is delighted to launch its first application laboratory in the United States.”

He went on to explain that “IMCD’s market focused technical centres are an important element of the value-added proposition we offer to both our customers and supply partners and will further enhance the knowledge and technical capabilities of the IMCD US personal care sales team.”

And there is more to come from IMCD in the Americas: “We see this as the first step towards replicating the successful technical centre model we have established in other regions,” says Jordan.

Services and distribution

The personal care division of IMCD serves client companies in color cosmetics, fragrance, hair care, skin care, deodorant, dental care, and general toiletry products.

According to the company press release about the new lab in Miami, that facility is “fully equipped with state-of-the-art apparatus,” And, “the primary focus of the new personal care laboratory will be to support customers and suppliers, offering market trend advice, problem solving, formulation guidance and product performance testing.”

As a distributor of actives as well as functional and sensorial ingredients, IMCD already has track record in the region. Most recently the company signed with BASF, to be that ingredient maker’s distribution partner in the southeastern States.
