A new headquarters for New Avon

After nearly one year as a stand-alone company, the North American social selling beauty company has announced the location of its new offices here in New York City. Soon hundreds of New Avon staff will move from the East Side to Lower Manhattan.

Previously, New Avon and its international counterpart Avon Products were headquartered at 777 3rd Avenue, between 48th and 49th Streets in New York City. The company offered much of that space for sublease last summer in preparation for Avon Products’ relocation to the UK in January. And now New Avon LLC is on its way out of the building too.

Downtown

New Avon announced this month that it has taken two floors in One Liberty Plaza, a 54-story building at the corner of Broadway and Liberty Street in Lower Manhattan.

Commenting on the choice, Scott White, CEO of New Avon, tells the press, “as we work to build the best social selling experience for Avon Representatives and consumers, it was important for us to find an emerging and high energy location to inspire our innovative, entrepreneurial culture.”

The dynamics, logistics, and social climate of a given neighborhood will necessarily influence the people and businesses at work there. With this in mind, White believes that Lower Manhattan is right for the company: “We were attracted to Lower Manhattan because it is a vibrant and growing area, anchored by the Freedom Tower and the Westfield World Trade Center. This location will embody the Avon of the future, so we’d like to thank Governor Cuomo and the team at Empire State Development for helping us make this exciting move a reality.”

Facts and figures

Nearly 400 New Avon pros from every core function, including but not limited to marketing, merchandising, digital, legal, innovation, finance, HR, and supply chain, will be relocated. The team is expected to be fully operational in the downtown offices by late summer. In the meantime New Avon is turning the two floors into the office space it needs and spending $9.5m to do so, according to Empire State Development.

New Avon also expects to create 53 new jobs over the next ten years. Those new jobs garnered financial incentives from Empire State Development.  According to a press announcement from ESD, the beauty company has been offered “up to $4 million in performance-based tax credits through the Excelsior Jobs Program and a grant of up to $600,000 to support capital construction.”
