Yves Saint Laurent Beauté announces new global beauty director

YSL, L’Oréal-owned beauty brand, has announced that Tom Pecheux, an industry leader, has been appointed as its new Global Beauty Director.

Pecheux has formerly been creative director for two other major international brands, Estée Lauder and Shiseido and has been with YSL since 1 January.

Who is Pecheux?

Pecheux is a renowned beauty artist from France - famous for such work as Princess Diana’s look on the Vanity Fair cover - in his new role, he’s set to create makeup looks for the brand’s campaigns and act as a leading ambassador of the brand.

In the course of his career, Pecheux has collaborated with photographers like Paolo Roversi, Karl Lagerfeld, Patrick Demarchelier, Craig McDean, Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin and Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.  He has also contributed to advertising campaigns for brands including YSL, Gucci, Chanel and Dolce & Gabbana.

What will he be doing?

YSL states that Pecheux’s role will be threefold: in the studio, in the laboratory or ‘out and about’.

  • In the studio: Working with YSL Beauté ambassadors Staz Lindes, Anja Rubik, Crista Cober and Edie Campbell, Pecheux will create new looks for YSL Beaute’s advertising campaigns.
  • In the laboratory: Pecheux will collaborate with YSL Beauté’s key colour cosmetics creators, in order to develop innovative products, using his expert eye to create new makeup to excite and inspire.
  • Out and about: As YSL Beauté’s new ambassador, Pecheux will be YSL’s makeup expert, with the brand stating he will be looking to ‘inspire YSL Beauté customers with his vision and expertise’. Informing the world about the latest YSL Beauté makeup innovations his how-tos and unique colour statements will also be communicated via social media and international press.
