The company has won the technology category of the Swiss Packaging Award 2016 with its smart innovation in closures, called ‘smartslide’.
The Schweizerische Verpackungsinstitut award is in its 47th year and this year gave the nod to packaging innovations from a number of consumer goods categories, including fragrance, food and drink and leisure and lifestyle.
Intuitive and easy to use design
Mibelle entered its smartslide closure design into the technology category, and walked away with the prize after the judges noted its intuitive and easy to use design.
Consumer-friendly packaging is a make or break for new product launches, so the fact that smartslide is also intuitive to open, has dripless dispensing and is topped off with a safe and simple one handed closure mechanism rated highly with the judges.
Likewise, the bottle can also be placed upside down without the risk of spillage, which the Mibelle team says makes it particularly handy for facial cleansing or shower products.
49 entries from 31 different companies
The event included 49 entries from 31 different companies all competing for six different categories that highlight the best innovations in Swiss packaging every year.
There were a couple of other wins for the cosmetics and personal care category, including the audience award went to Swiss leisure brand Victorinox for the packaging design of its Swiss Army fragrance called Rock.
And the other prize that touched on the cosmetics and personal care category included the sustainability prize going to Deflaco for its foaming squeezy bottle.
