The Caviar effect – absorption ‘breakthrough’ with serum

While it’s still widely regarded as the extravagant treat of the wealthy, caviar has been making its way into the mainstream beauty arena of late with skin care brands infusing their anti-ageing formulations with the ingredient.

Swiss skin care player Alpessence is no stranger to infusing its formulations with precious ingredients from diamonds to pearls and rose stem cells and is the latest brand to tap into Caviar’s moisturizing, brightening and firming benefits in a newly launched premium serum.

This anti-ageing complex can boost the skin's absorption capability, allowing the skin to receive the full benefits of the caviar serum and other nutrients you apply afterwards,” the company said in a press statement.

‘Great formula doesn’t mean the skin will absorb it well’ - Alpessence

According to Dr. Scott Shone at Alpessence laboratory, many products on the market today are packed with great formulas but are not necessarily absorbed into the skin well enough to work as they should.

This is two-fold, the first is the stratum corneum doing what it does best - acting as a barrier that protects our bodies from absorbing everything that touches our skin.

Secondly, he says the molecules of a large number of active ingredients are often too large to fit through.

Appendagael absorption opened door to 'Infusion-Plus'

“If the ingredients in the skin care product are too large to immerse into skin cells, they will move between the cells for a period of time or will be temporarily absorbed by some glands in a process known as ‘appendageal absorption,’” Dr. Shone explains.

For this reason, this scientist says Alpessence has been seeking the answer for better absorption and developed an ‘Infusion-Plus’ formula comprised of penetration enhancers, derived from cutting-edge medical technology.

"It's important that people understand the absorption factor in skin care, and how caviar is a leading ingredient that will deliver better anti-ageing results within a shorter period of time,” he concluded.
