UK men’s grooming brand hits the right spot with crowd funding drive

UK men’s grooming brand Hommage recently launched a crowd funding campaign that met with such a degree of success that it exceeded the £500,000 target within two weeks.

Hommage is a provider of kits and gift boxes for men’s grooming, and includes skin care, body and shaving products amongst the more than 100 items it currently lists on it its website.

The sleekly packaged high-end brand image that the company has gone for is underscored by shave face and body skin care products from Japanese company Rohto, razor blades supplied by feather and ergonomically designed grooming equipment from Germany-based Wolfgang.

Digital and salon outlets

Although the company has evolved largely within the digital realms, it does also have its own Hommage Atelier salons, as well as similar partner locations worldwide.

Hommmage launched its crowd funding campaign by using Crowdcube, with the aim of creating two monthly subscription service plans.

The first plan is called ShaveCare Kit, and includes eight shave products designed to give a superior shave and finish.

The second plan is a FaceCare Kit, which includes eight different face care products aimed at protecting, replenishing and boosting the natural and healthy appearance of male skin.

An eye on father's day

Targeting father’s day in the UK, the kits are expected to retail for a monthly subscription rate of around £30, delivered directly to customers in a dedicated gift box.

Funds from the campaign will be used to boost the marketing drive for the gift sets and to expand the management team with a specific emphasis on the company’s digital marketing and customer services divisions.

According to Hommage executives, its crowd funding campaign was a big hit with both investors and the credit rating agency Crowdrafting, which gave it top marks.

“Crowdrating is an independent rating agency specifically for crowdfunding campaigns that is the leader in its field and regulated by the Financial Conduct Agency (FCA) in the UK,” a company statement read.

“Crowdrating’s rating methodology is to assess three main areas – management, product and investment, along with award gold, silver bronze or nothing for each criteria. We are happy to announce that following Crowdrating’s assessment, Hommage’s fundraising campaign was awarded 3x gold in each of these critical areas.”
