Croda launches latest skin smoothing ingredient
Ingredient supplier Croda has launched its new high molecular weight protein hydrolysate Prolevis, which targets skin wrinkles and imperfections, claiming to instantly smooth the skin.

The new ingredient, which was showcased for the first time at SCS Formulate at the end of last year, claims to have exceptional film forming capabilities that envelops the skin, instantly smoothing visible surface wrinkles and imperfections.

The UK-based supplier says that the development of Prolevis was based on consumer desire for skin creams that address fine lines and wrinkles that may already be on the skin, as they become increasingly aware of the ageing effects of their daily routines.

It is another example of how current consumer trends are relevant to supplier’s developments as Croda claims it is the rising popularity of the ‘selfie’, which places increased scrutiny on appearances and the desire for picture-perfect skin, which is driving the need to minimise the micro-signs of ageing.

“With up to 75% of consumers highlighting that Prolevis gave them instantly smoother looking skin, it is the obvious choice for skin care formulations,” says Croda.

“With customisation and personalised products on the increase, Prolevis is able to capitalise on this trend by delivering a range of functional anti-ageing claims depending on its level of inclusion, including consumer-perceivable skin smoothing, tightening and firming.”

Last week at the Cosmetagora event organised by the French Cosmetic Society in Paris Croda also won the ‘Coup de Coeur’ formulation award with its Ice Cream Emulsion which targets skin hydration.

The Ice Cream Emulsion was developed at the company’s Shanghai laboratory in China where the trend for this type of product was first identified.

Collecting the award were Pascale Rossi, Marketing Manager and Guillaume Douillet, Sales Manager for  Consumer Care of Croda France who were keen to praise the invaluable contributions of all those involved in creating the formulation.

It was the third annual contest at Cosmetagora and the top three awards went to IFF Lucas Cosmetics, SICAF and Arkema Innovative Chemistry.
