Univar expands Europe business with Dow Corning distribution agreement

Chemical firm Univar has moved to expand its business in Europe with the announcement that it has signed a distribution agreement with Dow Corning for personal care ingredients in the UK and Ireland.

The deal was put into effect from the start of the year and sees Univar begin distribution of Dow Corning silicone products into these new geographies.

It is not the first time these two companies have worked together as they have had a number of distribution agreements in place with one another in many territories around the world and in many different markets.

“Univar and Dow Corning have more than 40 years of history in working together to serve the personal care market in many countries across mainland Europe,” says Matthew Ottaway, Industry Director, Personal Care, Univar EMEA.

“We are excited to expand on this rich heritage of innovation and technical cooperation to serve our personal care customers in the UK and Ireland.”

Experience

Univar says that Personal Care is a core market segment for the company and that it offers customers and suppliers global reach and formulation expertise, delivered via a network of technical development specialists.

Particularly in Europe, Univar’s Personal Care team offers a comprehensive, global perspective on market trends, formulations, and best-in-class technologies.

The company also operates a dedicated personal care laboratory located in Brussels, staffed by technical experts that bring a wealth of experience in the development of formulations using Dow Corning materials.

Dow Corning offers more than 7,000 products and services via the company’s brands, specialising in silicones and silicon-based technology.

Despite being headquartered in Michigan, more than half of Dow Corning’s annual sales are outside the United States, and Europe is seen as a key market.
