DSM eyes up new anti-ageing complex

DSM Personal Care is launching its new multifunctional anti-ageing peptide complex in order to target the eye care sub-category, which is the second best-selling product form in facial skin care.

The Syn-Eye peptide builds on the ingredient supplier’s expertise in skin care and adds to its existing Syn product range.

The Netherlands-headquartered company says it has developed this latest product in response to consumers’ desire to have lineless eyes, and builds on the a growing trend.

According to market researcher Mintel, the eye care market has grown by 300% in the last decade driven by increased consumer demand for fast-acting, reliable eye care products; which are the second best-selling product form in the facial skin care market, after face care creams.

Peptide technology

DSM’s new Syn-Eye product builds on its skin care expertise with the 4-in-1 eye care complex, utilising the company’s peptide technology.

“Peptide competence is instrumental for DSM Personal Care in developing breakthrough innovations and fuelling the growth of the skin care sector,” says Dr Mathias Gempeler, Head of Marketing Skin Care at DSM.

“As multi-functionality remains one of the hot topics in skin care, I feel particularly pleased that we can deliver on this significant consumer trend with our key technology, offering a multi-benefit product that acts fast on the skin.”

In-house studies have shown that over a 30 day period, a group of 30 volunteers demonstrated fast and visible results when using the product.

Within the first seven days of the study, DSM claims that the complex visibly reduced the appearance of lines and wrinkles around the eye, and after 14 days, the skin around the eye contour was visibly brighter.

It said the tests showed that Syn-Eye helped to improve skin texture, making the delicate skin around the eye look smoother, and has shown very high consumer acceptance in all key aspects of eye care.

All ingredients contained in the complex are also listed in the Inventory of Existing Cosmetic Ingredients in China (IECIC).
