L’Oréal teams up with the Red Cross to provides personal care products to refugees

Cosmetics maker L’Oréal has followed a number of other global companies such as Michelin, Sodexo, Total, and Air Liquid, in pledging its support to the French Red Cross (Croix-Rouge), and providing refugees with personal care products.

As has been well documented in the global news, there is an emergency situation faced by thousands of refugees, and this has prompted L'Oreal to support the action of the Red Cross and participate in humanitarian aid.

As part of this decision, L'Oréal states that it will provide the Red Cross with hygiene and care products for adults, in the form of shampoo, shower gel, and body and hair creams, as well as  shampoo, body wash, and wipes for children.

Humanitarian aid

According to the Red Cross, over the course of the next three months, basic personal care such as this will be needed in France for about 500 refugees, of which 20% are children.

On top of these actions, the L’Oréal Foundation, which is the Group’s commitment to social causes, has selected five associations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to which company employees will have the opportunity to donate personally.

These include the French Red Cross, UNICEF, Doctors of the World, the Chain of Hope, and the UNHCR, all of which work on the ground in France and abroad, and whose expertise is widely recognized.

L’Oréal’s global subsidiaries in other countries affected by the humanitarian crisis will also participate locally in the refugee initiative by giving hygiene products.

The beauty behemoth is just one of a number of large French companies that are participating in humanitarian aid in light of the unprecedented wave of immigration to Europe, from Syria and other countries in the Middle East and Africa.
