This year the theme is Biodiversity for Sustainable Development and is said to reflect the importance of efforts made at all levels to establish a set of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as part of the United Nations Post-2015 Development Agenda for the period of 2015-2030.
To celebrate the day, the Union for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT) has decided to prepare a special infographic to raise awareness about the importance of biodiversity and its respect.
The cosmetics industry in particular depends on biodiversity as it provides a source of innovation and raw materials.
Typically, these raw materials are used after undergoing some type of transformation, producing oils, surfactants, emulsifiers and other ingredients.
