Clariant launches glucose- and oil-based surfactant range
The range is a sugar-based and sulfate-free selection of surfactants that are set to be unveiled at the forthcoming in-cosmetics event, which this year will be held in Barcelona, Spain, April 14 – 16.
Billed as a truly multifunctional product, the development team says it has created the new ingredient on the basis that it can achieve excellent cleaning qualities, combined with new sensory dimensions for both skin and hair care products.
A mild, flexible, multifunctional surfactant
Formulated as a glucose and natural oil product, this mild surfactant has been tested to show excellent compatibility with a wide range of fragrances, oils, ingredients and actives, and is also biodegradable, the development team claims.
The range includes four different GlucoTain ingredients, each of which has been developed to optimize formulation choices, compatibility and different end-applications, not to mention a range of different sensory qualities.
Clariant’s development team say that potential formulation application might include specialist products such as caring facial cleansers and baby shampoos, where it could bring about a moisturizing feel and a rich foam, while also providing easy rinse-off for shower products.
Look out for in-cosmetics demonstrations
“GlucoTain is set to revolutionize the way we think about mild surfactants as formulators can now minimize traditional trade-offs through cost-effective and improved sensorial formulation options,” said Nicolas Lasbistes, global technical marketing manager at Clariant’s personal care division.
“This is great news for customers looking to gain market edge across Personal Care with innovative products and platforms based on sulfate-free and EO-free formulations,” he added.
Clariant will be featuring GlucoTain as part of a presentation during the lecture programme at the in-cosmetics Barcelona event, on Wednesday April 15, 2015, at 2:20pm, in Theatre 1.
