Evonik develops hair conditioning agent to meet market demand

Ingredients supplier Evonik has introduced its new VARISOFT EQ100 liquid conditioning agent to meet hair care market demands along with improved its sustainability profile.

The active is designed to provide superior manageability, lubricity and softness to the hair and Evonik claims it outperforms leading market standards in both sensorial evaluations and technical measurements.

“Reviewing global market needs we found out that consumers around the world are looking for effective hair conditioning to maintain attractive and healthy hair without compromising the environment,” Lisa Dierks, Global Marketing Communication Manager Personal Care, tells CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com.

Customer demand

“To meet these customer demands we developed this high performance conditioning agent with improved sustainability profile, VARISOFT EQ 100.”

The effects were tested through combing force measurements and half-head tests, which Dierks says backs up the company’s claims.

“Furthermore our new product supports a more environmentally conscious approach in the cosmetics industry, as it has a lower ecotox compared to common benchmark,” she continues.

“Another advantage of VARISOFT EQ 100 is the reduced risk during transport or production, and the increased flexibility during processing, since the product is solvent-free and non-flammable.”

The new product is targeted at a broad range of application formats in the hair care market, including conditioning rinses, hair conditioning sprays and treatments, conditioning shampoos, styling products, as well as hair dyes.

Its sustainability profile includes ist ready biodegradability, lower ecotox compared to common benchmark, cold-processability, and ist primarily renewable, none palm-based feedstock.
