Azelis opens personal care lab in the UK

Cosmetics ingredients provider Azelis has invested in its development capabilities with the opening of new laboratories facilities in the UK.

The site, which is in Hertford, in the Southeast of England, forms part of the company’s strategic drive to generate a more sustainable business with an increased number of value-added services for its customers.

The facility, which will also be developing solutions for the homecare and pharmaceutical industries, opened this month and will be focused on providing formulation and technical support, as well as trouble-shooting, business generation and ingredient approvals.

A dedicated personal care lab

“Dedicated sales, marketing and technical support of innovative ingredients forms the cornerstone of our Life Sciences business and we are continually looking to improve our service provision along the value chain for customers and principals,” said Joan Traynor, Managing Director, Azelis UK.

The laboratory suite includes a dedicated personal care lab that will be focused on providing stability tested formulations for the skin care, hair care, sun care, body care, colour cosmetics, or care and fragrance categories.

This builds on supporting the operations of the companies seven other personal care laboratories throughout Europe and China, while another new facility is planned to be opened in Paris during 2015.

Emphasis on innovation

“Innovation is a key driver in our industry and we work closely with our partners on specific formulation and project support,” said Tony Craske, International Business Director, Azelis Personal Care.

“We test new developments, improvements in existing products and application ideas for ingredients,” which the company does in partnership with its clients for specific formulation and project support.

Most recently the company grew its presence in the Asia Pacific region with the opening of a new headquarters in Shanghai, last year, while in 2012 it signed a distribution deal with IFF to supply its ingredients in Europe.
