Cosmetic Compliance Summit targets clarity on EU regulations

The Cosmetics Compliance Summit 2014 is set to open its doors in London for three days from October 14th, with a comprehensive programme that aims to enhance clarity on EU regulations for the industry.

The first event was held last year, and organiser IQPC says that this follow up event aims to build on the success it achieved in 2013.

The first event was chaired by Cosmetics Design deputy editor Andrew McDougall, who has been invited back again this year to again to do the same job for 2014.

Targeting compliance for SMEs

In particular, the programme targets SMEs by discussing potentially problematic areas of regulation, stressing how to overcome such obstacles and highlighting how competitors are already dealing with this.

Drilling down, the presentations will have a specific focus on REACH regulations and the importance of understanding them, as well as going into more depth on claims and how to stay on the right side of things.

The agenda includes a one day pre-conference workshop on October 14th, that will be split into a morning session looking at the impact of 56 newly identified fragrance allergy, while the afternoon session will look at ways to simplify the management of documentation and processes for compliance.

The definition of nanomaterials

Day 1 of the conference programme will be October 15th, and the session will be opened by Andrew, who will also be overseeing the proceedings by introducing all the speakers and moderating a panel discussion on the first day and a roundtable on the second day.

Highlights from the first day of the conference programme will include a presentation on the Definition of Nanomaterials, by Steffi Friedrichs, director general of the Nanotechnology Industries Association, together with a presentation focusing on finding the right person to deal with regulation compliance given by Antonia Kenning, regulatory manager new product development at Burberry Ltd.

The second day of the conference programme, October 16th, will include a keynote address given by Giulia Ciarlo, policy advisor at DG Sanco Europe Commission, together with a look in to free from claims, given by Rajat Narang, head of regulatory & compliance at Richards & Appleby.
