Sensorial attributes becoming increasingly important in skin care

The touch and feel of a formula is becoming more important in order to satisfy demand and meet consumer needs, which is why it is a top priority for ingredient suppliers.

Speaking with DSM at the in-cosmetics event in Hamburg, Cosmetics Design got to the bottom of consumer and customer demand and how important it is for a supplier to meet both.

DSM’s senior director, Global Marketing & Innovation, Joerg Richter tells us that in both skin care and sun care - key areas that DSM has launched new products in - it is important to match the touch and feel of a formula with what is desired and this is shaping the products that are being developed.

Joerg states that consumer and customer understanding must be combined to produce the best products for the cosmetics industry.

“Ultimately we know our customers serve people’s beauty needs – we must analyse these and understand them, and this enables us to have a better dialogue with our customers,” he says.
