Kline reveals China and Brazil to influence specialty active trends

At the in-cosmetics event in Hamburg, Nikola Matic industry manager at Kline stopped by Cosmetics Design's booth to discuss his presentation which focused on specialty actives and what markets we are likely to see innovation coming from next.

Specialty actives refers to ingredients in the top end of the market that are substantiated and come with efficacy claims.

Here; Matic talks about which markets are the least active, where improvements can be made, and how the markets of China and Brazil will impact the industry.

"While Europe remains the largest region for the segment, developing markets continue to gain share, in particular China and Brazil," he tells this publication.

The industry expert says this is due to consumers expecting something different in Brazil and China, particularly in hair care active ingredients, which is much higher in terms of percentage than any other region on the globe.

He also says demand is shifting towards emerging markets as; "specialty actives are present in prestige or luxury formulations, which in the past used to be developed in Europe to sell to Asia. We are now seeing that process change."
