Croda stresses importance of ingredients design to sustainable future

Ingredient suppliers must implement the carbon footprint into their ingredient design and ensure the correct supply chain choices if we are to work towards a sustainable future.

At the recent Cosmetics Vision event in Cannes, Cosmetics Design spoke to Croda’s Sandra Breene, president Consumer Care, and Chris Sayner, vice president Global Accounts, about how ingredient suppliers deal with sustainability issues and demand.

Chris tells us that carbon footprint must be developed in ingredient design and by setting its targets in annual reports, Croda is close to achieving its targets a few years in advance.

The Croda boss also stresses the importance of sustainable palm oil which has come under the spotlight once more in the cosmetics industry.

Continuing talks on sustainability, Sandra also mentioned Croda’s acquisition of IRB’s stem cell technology as an example of how environmental impact can be controlled through ingredient design and how the business is working towards a sustainable future.
