Quadpack acquires Krampak

Less than a year after it announced the acquisition of wooden components manufacturer Technotraf, cosmetics packaging developer Quadpack has purchased fellow Spanish company Krampak, a provider of decoration services to the beauty industry.

The Krampak acquisition aims to achieve a number of objectives, a Quadpack spokesperson told CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com, including speed and flexibility, innovation in decoration techniques and increased industrial capacity.

For Krampak founder David Tanya, the operation is set to ensure continued innovation, greater visibility and business expansion as a result of Quadpack’s support.

Response to market needs Tim Eaves, CEO of Quadpack, said that the move represents a response to market needs.

“Our clients are increasingly demanding shorter lead times to help them react tactically to market changes,” he explained.

“What’s more, combined with our facilities at Technotraf Wood Packaging, we will be able to offer a host of manufacturing and finishing services right here in Europe, from bespoke wooden components, through screen-printing, spray painting and, eventually, warehousing.”

Eaves added that sourcing in Asia will continue to be an important aspect of Quadpack’s business, with technological and economical benefits continuing to exist in this region.

“What we are doing in Spain essentially helps overcome some of the logistical shortfalls,” he said.

Elaborating on this point, the spokesperson explained that the time it takes to develop whole packaging solutions can be reduced if packs sourced in Asia (or elsewhere) are then held in stock and the decoration applied locally.

Substantial investment in facilities revamp Quadpack said that a substantial investment will be made in upgrading Krampak’s facilities, which are set to be relaunched in September 2014.

The company’s operations will continue uninterrupted during the revamp.

Founded in 2002 and based in Torelló in the heart of Catalonia’s Cosmetic Valley, Krampak’s services include screen-printing, tampography, thermal printing, digital printing and laser engraving.

The company has worked with an array of brands, including Guerlain, Lancôme, Yves Saint Laurent, Carita and Shiseido.
