Croda caters for halal cosmetics

Speciality chemicals manufacturer Croda has announced the new halal product capabilities of one of its UK sites.

The site at Rawcliffe Bridge will now be able to produce cosmetic ingredients which are fully permissible by Islamic Law, widening the company’s ability to cater to consumers.

The Muslim population demand for admissible personal care products is fueling a worldwide growth in Halal cosmetics which Croda are looking to tap into.

Representing a quarter of the global population, this community signifies an ever-growing opportunity in which cosmetic manufacturers are looking to tap into”, the company observes.

The development will enable Croda to offer halal-approved versions of such ingredients as Rheology Modifiers, Emulsifying Waxes or Lanolin Derivatives to manufacturers.

Croda notes it has more audits for its sites planned in 2014 to further increase its capacity to produce halal products.
