Flower power: Silab launches peony root anti-ageing ingredient

The upcoming release of Volunage, an anti-ageing active ingredient, has been announced by France-based ingredients developer Silab.

Following research on the effect of solar radiation on skin cells, Silab developed the new ingredient in response to findings that such radiation can indirectly damage deep tissue.

Silab states that the new ingredient “combats premature ageing by regulating and controlling cellular communication” between the skin’s tissue layers.

Tested in vitro at 0.50% concentration, Volunage was found to have a three-way replumping effect on the skin: it controls communication pathways between the dermis and the hypodermis, preserves the functionality of the hypodermis, and increases the thickness and volume of fat tissue.

The ingredient is rich in peony oligosaccharides and is recommended for use in all face care products.

Volunage will be launched next month.
