Colep expands aerosol manufacturing footprint in the Americas

Portugal-based consumer packaging manufacturer Colep has announced the acquisition of an aerosol personal care products manufacturing plant in Santiago de Querétaro, Mexico.

Colep has acquired the facility from Aerosoles y Liquidos and will now continue to manufacture the same type of packaging products under the trading name Colep S.A. de C.V.

Strategically, Colep says that the acquisition gives it a footing in the personal care contract packaging manufacturing business in both Central and North America.

Serving blue chip and international customer base

The company added that the facility will serve both its existing blue chip customer base, as well as what is expected to be a growing list of important multifunctional, regional and local brand owners.

The facility builds on Colep’s portfolio of ten contract manufacturing plants situated throughout Europe and Brazil, where the company produces a wide variety of aerosol, cream and liquid personal care and cosmetic products.

The plan is to further invest in the facility, to increase production and further raise manufacturing standards, with the ultimate aim of bringing it in line with international production standards.

Building on 'One Asia network' agreement

The acquisition in Mexico builds on the announcement back in September that the company is collaborating with One Asia Network on a Manufacturing and Technology Agreement, which will cover the whole of their respective organizations and thereby give supply coverage from Australia, Japan, China, Thailand, India, Poland, Germany, Spain, Portugal and Brazil.

“Through this Alliance, we are now ready to support our customers on a global basis. This is a major step forward in supporting our customers in the implementation of their projects…Bringing innovation to the world,” said Nobuyuki Minami, president, Daizo Corp, on behalf of the One Asia Network.

Colep and One Asia will work together to bring considerable expertise, knowledge and leverage to a worldwide customer base, by creating a truly global network to serve ever-changing customer demands and environments.

The manufacturing aspect of this agreement will include sharing of best practice in areas of; safety, manufacturing knowhow and the most efficient practices.

Technology exchanges will encompass both formulation and packaging developments, the sharing of aerosol science and technology, and the bringing together of creative dispensing solutions.
