Germany packaging player Gizeh expands into North America
The company says that the finishing of the facility is almost complete and that test production should lead to the start of production by the end of this year, from where the company says it aims to supply its customers throughout North America with solutions for rigid plastic packaging in the cosmetics, and personal care categories, but will initially be focused on the food sector.
The company said it chose the site because of it is within 150 kilometers of the US border, and the fact that is within easy reach of several of the largest industrialized zones and cities in the North America region, including Detroit.
Offering a host of selected packaging technologies
The new Canada-based operation will trade under the name Gizeh NA Inc, and will be offering technologies including deep drawing, injection moulding and labelling.
The company is based in Bergneustadt, Germany, and currently has six manufacturing locations, which include the domestic market of Germany, as well as France, Poland, Switzerland and Canada.
The business operations are global, with a distinct focus on the European market, but in recent years the company has also been concentrating on ramping up its operations in North America, resulting in the construction of its first facility there.
Getting closer to North American customers
“A branch of our own in North America is a logical step for GIZEH,” says Gizeh CEO Ralf Jung. "Gizeh has been steadily growing for years and, since 2011, has supplied an increasing number of customers in Canada and the USA. “
“With a local presence, we want to be closer to our customers and, in the medium term, become a major player in the North American market.”
The company says that it is targeting sales of more than €10 million within the first three years of starting production at the Brantford site.
