Growth potential for beauty packagers willing to keep up with dynamic markets

As German packager Edelmann gears up to celebrate its centenary, future growth potential is available in new growth markets as brand manufacturers look to meet dynamic consumer demand, it says.

Celebrating its anniversary in June, Edelmann has packaged some of the top hair colouring, cosmetics and fragrance brands, along with other market offerings, in its 100 years.

Managing director Dierk Schröder believes that the company will now push on as it seeks to respond even more effectively to the individual needs of its customers.

New growth markets

“The efforts of global brand manufacturers and thus the international nature of the packaging business will continue to develop in the future thanks to dynamic consumer development in new growth markets, predominantly in the ASEAN countries,” he says.

“We are convinced that Edelmann will continue to play an important role in the international packaging market in the future.”

Schröder is assuming continued growth in demand for innovative brand packaging concepts, with the health and beauty care segments a key factor, along with premium segments such as confectionery.

The range of system solutions the Heidenheim-based firm offers is also set to be expanded, having been one of the leading manufacturers of packaging solutions, creating packaging for virtually all large brands in the beauty care segment.

A century of innovation

With its countless innovations and initiatives, the company has continued to play a leading role in defining the industry.

The foundations for success were laid in 1913 when Carl Edelmann bought a stone printing workshop in Heidenheim, producing folding cartons for branded goods by 1924.

In the decades that followed, the family-run company built up the packaging business and transformed itself from a simple folding carton printer to a manufacturer of high quality packaging for confectionery, pharmaceuticals and cosmetic brands.

In its 100 years of operation, Edelmann has played a significant role in the long-term development of the packaging industry in many areas and has produced numerous innovative structures and prints, many of which have won awards.
