Study confirms new technology effective on Asian skin types

A new-peer reviewed study has confirmed a new treatment to be safe and effective in facial skin laxity and wrinkle reduction in Asian patients.

The treatment ‘EndyMed PRO's multisource RF system’ was reviewed by Dr. Yohei Tanaka of the Clinical Tanaka Plastic, Reconstructive Surgery and Anti-Aging Center in Japan and appears in the March 2013 edition of the Journal of Cosmetics, Dermatological Sciences and Applications.

The study entitled ‘Objective Assessment of Skin Tightening Using Multisource, Phase-Controlled Radiofrequency in Asians,’ featured the system being tested with 3D objective facial volume assessments which is designed to accurately capture the surface shape, and indicate the volume changes between pre-treatment and post-treatment images in the face.

With the EndyMed PRO, our data showed that phase-controlled, multisource RF irradiation provides safe and effective treatment of facial skin laxity and for wrinkle reduction in Asian patients.”

Unique system

According to the creators of the system, as non-invasive skin tightening procedures become increasingly popular, most treatments tend to feature monopolar or two bipolar RF generators whereas this new device uses, for the first time, multiple phase controlled RF generators that direct energy deep into the dermis for painless collagen remodeling.

"The repelling forces between adjacent electromagnetic fields drive the energy vertically into the target tissue, reducing significantly the energy flowing along the skin's surface and eliminating the need for skin cooling."

Trials deem the system effective

The study involved 20 Japanese volunteers, 18 females and 2 males, aged 26 to 69 years whereby the FDA approved device was tested on both cheeks over a period of three sessions with a one week interval between treatments.

According to Dr. Tanaka, the process found significant improvements in skin laxity and a reduction of facial volume in the treated areas three months after the end of the sessions, "which proves a long lasting skin tightening effect due to collagen remodeling."

The expert and his team further concluded that volunteers reported a 95 per cent satisfaction rate in the improvement of skin laxity, and a 90 per cent satisfaction rate in the improvement of facial wrinkles proving that the system is a highly efficient, comfortable and low cost option for non-invasive skin tightening.
