This year’s event marked the first time the 49 competing brands were judged during the show itself, with a jury comprised of over 55 experts from retailers including Sephora and Marionnaud gathering to select their favourites.
Brands were judged on a range of criteria including communication, packaging, sensorial properties and their price-quality ratio. In all, some eight awards were given out, including the Beauty Organic Award, the Niche Brand Award and the Emerging Brand Award.
Lady Green, Russie Blanche and Jardins d’Ecrivains amongst winners
Lady Green, described as fun and trendy organic cosmetics for teens, won the Beauty Challenger Emerging Brand award. Meanwhile, the Niche Brand Award went to Russie Blanche, a range of face and body care products inspired by French know-how and Russian tradition.
Omum, an organic cosmetics line for mothers-to-be, was crowned the Beauty Blog Favourite, while Fleurs de Bach, known for its elixirs, beat off the other finalists Omum and Pomarium to be crowned winner of the Beauty Organic Award.
The Jardins d’Ecrivains range of scented candles inspired by famous writers and where they lived scooped two prizes: the Jury’s Favourite Award and the Press Prize.
Special partnership with Victoires de la Beauté
A special partnership was exceptionally forged between Beyond Beauty and Victoires de la Beauté in 2012, the year that both parties are celebrating their 10th anniversary, which saw the recognition of industry meet that of consumers.
Some three brands were selected among 35 at Beyond Beauty: Lady Green, Kadalys and Les Anges ont la Peau Douce. After being blind-tested by consumers in France, Lady Green was crowned the winner of the Victoires de la Beauté award.
The European Beauty Innovation Award, which integrated five countries into the jury for 2012, saw Eutopie crowned the overall winner. Aiming to give brands the chance to expand their distribution reach and develop their business faster and more efficiently, this award is driven by Beauty Alliance and was first introduced at Beyond Beauty in 2010.
