According to Bayer, the extract inhibits induced histamine release on mast cells and hinders the negative process involved in neurosensitive skins between immune system reactivity.
“Embelia powder inhibits Prostagladin E2 release (Fig.5, Protocol IV) and Leucotrien B4 release in induced PMNs (polymorphonuclear neutrophils) model,” says a company spokesperson.
“Considering the dry matter content and the density, tested values correspond to 8μg/ml, 17μg/ml, 83μg/ml of Embelia extract,” they added.
The recommended usage is 1 – 2 per cent with direct introduction in the aqueous phase of emulsion or in hydrophilic formulation during the cooling phase. Bayer offers no expected specific incompatibilities but mentions the use of antioxidant could be helpful.
