Called Lipex AvoButter, the formulation will be platformed at next months’ in-cosmetics event, to be held in Barcelona, Spain, where the company will be taking advantage of one of the world’s biggest ingredient events for the cosmetics industry.
The main functional focus of the formulation is that it combines the repairing characteristics of lipids with vitamin F, providing the skin with nutrient-rich properties to improve its overall quality. It also comes in a semi-solid form that melts on the skin slowly to provide continuous moisturisation properties.
Targeting skin and hair care as well as facial masks
As well as skin care formulations, it is also being marketed for hair care products and facial masks, on account of the fact that avocado oil and shea butter both provide gloss and softening properties, the company claims.
On top of the formulation's functional properties, AAK is also to highlight the fact that it has been developed as an eco-designed product as well as being sustainable, a factor that is increasingly hitting formulators' radars right now.
AAK’s Lipids for Care division has been specifically sourcing Shea in West Africa for more than sixty years and has been promoting its activities in the region in terms of functionality, sustainability, economic and social development.
Sustainability core to formulation devleopment
“Sustainability is a wide topic where both social and environmental aspects have to be included and balanced. So that we can look forward to a better world socially, financially as well as environmentally”, Staffan Norberg, Director of Lipids for Care, told CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com in a recent interview.
At the in-cosmetics event in Barcelona, CosmeticsDesign will also be conducting an interview with Ari Alander, who is the company’s product manager and technical director for the company’s all-important Lipids for Care division.
In the interview we will ask about the development of the company’s other product launches, which include a bioactive triterpene ingredient and an emollient, as well as attempting to shine more light on what the company has in store for the future and the sort of direction it is likely to take.
