As part of the acquisition, Ardagh will add Boxal’s packaging capabilities including the manufacture and supply of aerosols such as Axe, Pantene, Garnier and L’Oréal among others, to its portfolio of services.
"We are pleased to announce the acquisition of Boxal which will assist us in further diversifying into the aluminium can market, enhance our product offering and add value to our current activities", said Niall Wall, Ardagh Group CEO.
Expansion of services
Boxal has manufacturing facilities in both France and the Netherlands, which have a total annual production capacity of over 900m containers. These will be in addition to Ardagh’s 88 manufacturing plants worldwide.
The transaction between Ardagh and Exal will include an investment of approximately €85m. Further details of when the acquisition will be completed have not yet been disclosed.
According to AEROBOL (International Organisation of Aluminium Aerosol Container Manufacturers) president Takaaki Takeuchi, “The booming market has induced several aluminium aerosol can producers to enlarge their production capacities because the industry strongly believes in the sustained success of this product”.
