Rexam gets lippy with retro revival design for Lancome
Not for the first time…
The new product is the second all-metal lipstick in Lancome’s limited edition series, and is the second time it has collaborated with Rexam.
“This is our second collaboration with Lancome on their limited edition prestige lipstick collection,” said Carole Grassi, category manager for Cosmetics, Rexam Personal Care.
“Our long partnership rests upon our development of breakthrough solutions. In this case, our mastery of technical and decorative elements has again helped reintroduce an iconic design that reinforces the brand.”
The idea behind this latest seasonal collection is to evoke a glamorous, 70s “disco ball” design, and is achieved through the use of gold-and-silver mini-facets.
Intricate design
Rexam says the design reflects the appeal of Lancome’s iconic, engraved metal lipstick, Les Mirroirs, first popularised in the 1950s.
According to the creators, French Touch Absolu’s appeal derives from the design detail of the two-piece weighted cap, base and by the mechanism’s smooth performance.
The outer cap is of laser-etched, anodized aluminium, with a gold-silver mini-panel design. The effect is made possible by advanced laser techniques.
The lipstick cap is further decorated with the brand’s trademark rose, engraved at the metal forming stage. The inner cap is crafted of maillechort, a silvery alloy selected for its weight, visual appeal and durability.
The base of the lipstick is engraved with the “Lancome” logo and its mechanism is the Rexam R2000, lubricant-free, used by many brands.
