It’s True: first ever sun care products produced with completely renewable materials

Natural cosmetics company True has launched the first ever 100 percent biobased sun protection and self tanning products made with 100 percent renewable biological material.

The True Natural Sun Care line was designed on the premise that it is hard to find a way to protect your skin in the sun with a natural solution.

The US-based company says that is why the range was created, with biobased sun essentials made in the US from completely renewable biological ingredients.

“True is committed to providing the healthiest skin care products, free from artificial additives and chemicals,” claimed a company statement.

The sustainable beauty brand also explained that it uses organic ingredients wherever possible in all its products, as well as recycled containers in its packaging.

The new range incorporates a SPF40 sunscreen, a SPF20 daily moisturizer, and a self tanning lotion which has been certified vegan by the AVA.

Powered by special ingredient

The biobased True sun care products are made with pure organic plant oils, flower extracts and cupuacu butter.

Cupuacu butter is softer and creamier than cocoa butter, and is packed with nourishing essential fatty acids.

According to True, studies suggest cupuacu butter may also offer broad spectrum protection from damaging UVA and UVB rays.

The products also meet the USDA's new standard for natural products - Certified Biobased. This means the main ingredients are renewable plant or animal materials.

While a product need only contain 25 percent biobased ingredients to garner USDA BioPreferred Certification, True Natural Cosmetics boasts that its products contain 100 percent biobased ingredients.

The BioPreferred program strives to increase usage of renewable and local materials, promoting US agricultural businesses and encouraging cosmetics manufacturers to formulate their products with safer ingredients.
