Webinar tackles next phase of REACH compliance

International law firm Steptoe & Johnson has scheduled a webinar that aims to address all areas regarding compliance with phase two of the REACH legislation.

Entitlted REACH Post Registration : Next Challenges, the webinar will take place on February 15th at 4pm CET and 10am EST in a bid to embrace both European industry professionals as well as US companies targeting the European market.

The event has been organised following the passing of the registration deadline for phase one compliance of REACH, which was December 10, 2010.

Difficulties with stage one compliance

Many companies working in the personal care and cosmetics sector reported difficulties with compliance of phase one of the chemicals legislation programme, citing high costs, pressure on resources and a lack of information as key problem areas.

The webinar will focus on enforcement of the next phase of REACH compliance, as well as closely scrutinizing the legal remedies that company’s can pursue to ensure a smoother implementation.

The series of presentations will also compare the implications of REACH with China’s newly introduced chemicals legislation, together with the anticipated reform in the United States concerning the Toxic Substances Controlled Act.

Covering all bases

Other general topics will include a follow up on the first phase of registration, which will include dossier and substance evaluation, authorisation, restrictions, classifications and labelling, together with enforcement policies and practices, legal remedies and revisions to REACH.

Confirmed speakers will include Steptoe & Johnson partner Seth Goldberg, Darren Abrahams, an English barrister based in the company’s Brussels office, and scientific and regulatory consultant Graham Lloyd.
